4 Eczema Natural Remedies

Article by Hal Hendricks

Sometimes people confuse natural remedies for eczema with home remedies. If the ingredients in a remedy are from nature, such as flowers, herbs, and essential oils, then the remedy is a natural remedy. If a home eczema remedy doesn’t contain any natural ingredients, then it isn’t a natural remedy. With that said, there are literally hundreds of natural home remedies for eczema. You don’t have to spend a lot of money when you probably have the ingredients around your house to make remedies that will work just as well as those from the store.

Oatmeal bath: Process 1/3 cup of oats in a blender or food processor until it is a fine powder. With warm bath water running, add the oat powder to the water and swirl to make sure there are no lumps. Soak in the warm bath for 20 minutes. This works very well for children because there is no funny smell and they don’t feel oily after the bath. Simple, effective, inexpensive.

Turmeric and olive oil: Turmeric, the spice in curries, has great anti-inflammatory properties, and olive oil is very soothing to the skin. Mix 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder with 1/2 cup of warmed olive oil. Gently rub it on the affected skin. You can leave it on for a couple of hours and then soak it off in an oatmeal bath.

Honey: Wash the affected area with warm water to clean it and open the pores. Rub honey over the affected area. When it soaks in rub on some more. Do this for about ten minutes. Rinse the honey off with cold water. Don’t worry; your skin won’t be sticky. Honey has great anti-infective properties, and over a short period of time your skin will become soft and smooth.

Milk compress: If you are suffering an eczema flare up, soak a cloth in cold milk and apply it to the affected area for about fifteen minutes. This will calm the itching.

These few remedies aren’t even the tip of the iceberg. With so many eczema natural remedies available, you can spend a lot of time trying them, but you will find one – or several – that work for you. However these remedies only address your eczema symptoms, they don’t address the root cause. Once you get your symptoms under control, you will want to investigate root causes and ways to put your symptoms into remission forever.
