Before we cover natural remedies for yeast infection, it is very important to start educating oneself on what this condition is and why does it occur. Did you know that 75% of women around the world have experienced a yeast infection once in their lifetime, and 50% of women have it recur over and over again?

What is yeast infection?

Yeast infection can also be known as thrush which is caused by an overgrowth of fungus known as Candida Albicans. The condition can cause discomfort and swelling on the affected area and can be termed as a syndrome that shows multiple causes. Although, most people call it yeast infection, it can be scientifically termed as Candidiasis.

The main cause of this infection is usually the increase in carbohydrates, especially in food intake like chocolates and sweets. A diabetic patient is more prone to yeast infection than a normal person. However, one must remember that this infection can occur to almost all healthy men and women. Vaginal yeast infection is the most common type of infection.

Many women often feel embarrassed to go to a physician to get treated and prefer to use some home remedies to cure this fungus infection. Here are some natural remedies for yeast infections that can be cured in the privacy of one’s home.

Oil of Oregano:

This is a remarkable herb that can do wonders against candidiasis. You can take it internally or apply externally on the affected area. Be sure to use a portion that has high carvacrol content. This makes it a very active ingredient. A recommended product can be Oreganol Super Strength P73.

Basil:

Basil is one of the highly reputed natural remedies for yeast infections. For infections like thrush, you can make basil tea and gargle with it. To make Basil tea, you need to first boil 3 1/2 cups water and add 1 1/2 tablespoons of ground basil. Cover it up for 30 minutes and gargle when cooled. You can also sweeten the taste with maple syrup and drink one cup twice daily.

Rosemary:

To reduce burning and itching sensation on the infected area, the best way is to make Rosemary tea and douche on the infected area. This will give you better relief.

Thyme:

Thyme also makes an active antibacterial solution for fighting against the candida albicans bacteria. To make thyme tea you need to boil 1 cup of water with 1 teaspoon of dried thyme. You can drink 4 cups daily to help reduce the amount of this bacteria stored in your body.

Garlic:

Garlic can be taken orally or in a gel capsule form. Garlic can fight fungus growth from inside the body and can reduce the infection significantly. You can also use it as vaginal douches, for virginal infections.

Unlike prescribed medicines, natural remedies for yeast infections normally do not upset the balance of bacteria and flora in one’s body. These herbal solutions have natural antibiotics and antifungal properties in them that are helpful in curing and treating Candidiasis. These natural remedies are also gentler on your body and can give you great relief immediately.
